To take a photograph of something dim, like the Milky Way, you need to take a long exposure (say 5 minutes). That would be easy if the earth weren’t turning. Put the camera on a tripod and open it for 5 minutes and all you’ll get are streaks! How do you take a very long exposure of something that’s slowly moving? Here’s how.
