While doing the Stations of the Cross one afternoon with my wife Donna, she is suddenly overcome by the sight of “the miracle of the sun”. This is a physical phenomena (experienced by millions, if not tens of millions of people) in which the person is allowed to not only stare directly into the sun without hurting their eyes, but is also able to see the sun spinning, gyrating, throwing off beautiful colors (like a pinwheel), etc. Some people see silhouettes of loved ones, most say they see a white “host” eclipsing the sun with lots of colors shooting off. Me personally, I’ve seen nothing, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t believe. In fact, when I’m with someone experiencing this, I usually get as close to them as I physically can and stare into their corneas (playing “Mr. Scientist”). I have no doubt that these people see exactly what they say they’re seeing. I’ve looked directly into people’s eyes who have been looking directly into the sun (without squinting or anything) for more than half an hour or more! No eye damage, no nothing. I know of at least 3 people who have been to Medjugorje who still see the miracle of the sun here in America occasionally!
