I’d signed up with Photo Researchers, a science based stock photography agency located in New York City, back in 1996. I can’t say I tried to beef up my portfolio too much in the early days. With the “acceptance rate” at only about 1 in 10 slides submitted (and I’m talking my “A” stuff here) I became easily discouraged. But then along came digital photography, with it’s laptops, instant results, and Photoshop. The rest is history, as they say. If I could simply picture the shot in my head, then all that was needed was to get it onto a computer screen and work it to perfection, even if the results were a little “pumped up”.
I sometimes wonder why I even did this website, since nearly everything I pretty much want to show everyone is at Photo Researchers. I guess maybe because I think a lot of the rejected pictures aren’t too “hard on the eyes”.
